designer glasses Lenses: At Premier Eyecare, we believe that the lenses that you choose are even more important than the frames you select. That's why we offer the best lenses and lens treatments available today. After receiving the prescription and recommendations from Dr. Jones, our knowledgeable optician will use that information to help you select from the wide variety of options, including thinner and lighter weight lenses, safer lenses, coatings and more.
Polycarbonate Lenses: Polycarbonate lenses are thinner and lighter than traditional plastic lenses. They also offer UV protection and are up to 10 times more impact resistant than regular plastic lenses. Because of the impact resistance, all children under the age of 18 must be fit into this lens material. These lenses are highly recommended for anyone who plays sports or leads an active lifestyle.

High Index Lenses: High index lenses were specially designed for patients with high prescriptions. They are up to 50% thinner and lighter than the traditional plastic lens and include UV protection. Choosing this lens style will help to create a more cosmetically appealing lens and give you more options when it comes to choosing a frame.

Aspheric Lenses: Aspheric lenses are made with flatter curves than conventional lenses, creating superior vision and giving them a slimmer, more attractive profile. While great for all types of prescriptions, this lens style is especially beneficial to those who are far-sighted, due to the thick centered nature of the plus powered lens. Standard plus powered lenses also cause an increase in size to the wearer's eyes. Using aspheric lenses will greatly reduce the amount of magnification, leaving the eyes closer to natural size.

Anti-Reflective Lenses: Anti-reflective lenses reduce the glare that you see, creating superior vision, as well as the glare that others can see on your lenses. A coating, similar to those found on cameras and microscopes, is bonded to the lens creating a reduction in glare, reflections and halos caused by many different light sources, such as headlights and camera flashes. This creates a much safer lens, especially while driving at night. It also creates more cosmetically appealing lenses by making them virtually invisible.

Progressive Addition Lenses: Progressive addition lenses, more commonly known as no-line bifocals, allow you to see clearly in all fields of vision: near, far and in-between. These lenses are designed for those suffering from presbyopia. The most current progressive lenses are made with advanced technology and are far superior to the progressive lenses of the past. We choose to use these lenses for all of our patients in order to ensure that you have unsurpassed sharpness and comfort in all fields of vision.

prescription eyeglasses Variable Focus Lenses: Variable focus lenses are designed specifically for those who spend a significant amount of time on the computer. Those that do, tend to suffer from headaches, burning or tired eyes, blurred vision and neck or shoulder pains. This is a condition known as CVS or Computer Vision Syndrome. CVS is caused by our eyes and brain reacting differently to characters on the screen than they do to printed characters. Variable focus lenses are designed with your intermediate prescription (computer distance) on the top portion of the lenses and your full reading strength on the bottom portion of the lenses, enabling you to comfortably switch back and forth between the computer screen and printed materials. Dr. Jones will customize your prescription for the exact distance that you sit from your computer monitor.

Transitions Lenses: Transitions lenses automatically adjust to changing light, becoming nearly as dark as sunglasses when outdoors in bright sunlight. The lenses block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays and are highly recommended for children because of this (80% of lifetime sun exposure comes before the age of 18). We like to think of them as sun-block for the eyes. Transitions lenses are available in both gray and brown, and come in a variety of lens materials and designs.

Polarized Lenses: Polarized lenses are sunglass lenses that virtually eliminate the glare that reflects from horizontal surfaces. This helps make your eyes more comfortable while driving, out on the water or playing sports. Like transitions lenses, they block 100% of harmful UV rays and are available in many different lens materials and designs. They are primarily available in gray and brown, however, they may be available in several other colors depending upon your prescription.
